Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

When Urban Decay announced they would my bringing out a third instalment of the cult favourite naked palette, no one knew what to expect so when it was released we were met with 12 rose toned eye shadows. When I first saw it took me some time to like it, as it was very different from the previous warm and cool toned palettes.
Urban Decay have followed previously from the Naked 2 with the tin packaging but this time it is a pinky grey colour. The 12 eye shadows range from matte, shimmer and satin finish shadows, each well pigmented and have great lasting power.
The first four eye shadows are Strange, Dust, Burnout and Limit. Strange is the perfect matt creamy white perfect as a base or a subtle highlight.
Dust is a light shimmery pink that has silver reflexes running throughout it in different lights.
Burnout is very similar to Dust but is a bit more peachy toned rather than pink.
Limit is a matte pinky, purply grey toned shadow perfect to add slight definition to the eyes.
The next four eye shadows are probably my favourite throughout the palette. They are Buzz, Trick, Nooner and Liar.
Buzz is the perfect shimmery pink that leaves the eyes with a foiled finish, with silver shimmer running through it.
Trick my favourite eye shadow in the palette in some lights this shadow looks rose gold toned and in others it looks much more copper toned.
Nooner another matte shadow however this one is more pinky brown shade, in one quick sweep this one could give you perfect definition in a flash.
Liar to me this shadow in the ban doesn't look much but when swatched and on the eye looks amazing, it is a muted pink with brown undertone to it.
The last four eye shadows in the palette are the darkest, they are Factory, Mugshot, Darkside and Blackheart.
Factory, a rich brown shade with a hint of pinky shimmer.
Mugshot, is a warm brown shade with a metallic silver reflex to it. This is a shade I need to use more often as it would look perfect on its own or in a brown smoky eye.
Darkside a deep purple shade with a hint of shimmer to make it not look to dark and scary.
The last shade is probably the most unusual Blackheart a matte black but with red micro glitter throughout it, perfect to spice up any smoky eye.
Overall it has taken me some time to love the Naked 3 Palette but I'm glad I do now love it, as I don't have any other pinky toned eye shadows. Out of palettes 2 and 3 I don't think I could choose which one I like the best as both of them offer a great range of colours, and an endless amount of looks to create.

The bloggers made me do it

As soon as Kylie Jenner told everyone she was using Nip and Fab products, the blogging community went crazy as Nip and Fab products are very affordable and offer a range of products suiting to any skincare need.
Kylie stated that some of her favourite products were from the Glycolic Fix Range, a range that helps to create a brighter clearer complexion, a range which I needed to try out.
I first started off by trying the exfoliating facial pads, a product that after the first use I loved, as they noticeably made a difference to my skin as it cleared away some on of the marks on my face from previous spots. The pads contain Glycolic Acid which helps to retexture the surface, to make it more smooth, Hyaluronic acid which refreshes and moisturises the skin and blue daisy which helps to calm everything down.
My next product is probably one of my favourites as it is a real multi-tasker, it is the Deep Cleansing Fix. A cream that can be used as an on spot treatment, an overnight mask, to remove makeup, a 10 minute mask. A little amount of the cream goes a long way and after using it seems to leave a slight film on my face, which some my not like but if you have dry skin it would be perfect as it would help to lock in moisture. The cream contains tea tree oil to help cleanse the pores and sweet almond oil to keep the skin nourished.
My last product is the Glycolic Fix Serum, a product that provides that extra boost in my skincare. The serum contains 4% Glycolic which really help to brighten the skin and minimise spots. When I use this product before bed I have to let it sink in to my skin as my skin feels quite tacky from where the product is sinking in to my skin.
Overall since using the Nip and Fab products I feel that my skin has become much clearer and better.

Lets talk about ...... Essence

Essence is a great makeup brand, but a brand that I feel is not talked about a lot in the blogging community. It should be talked about more as it offers a great range of products, for such a great price and they are all amazing quality.

Two of the products available that I would 100% recommend are the 3D eye shadows that are amazingly pigmented for the price of £2.80. I have the shade Irresistible Vanilla Latte, which I would recommend as you can use it as a eye shadow or a face highlighter. My second favourite product that I feel everyone has to get are the blushes, they provide great pigmentation, amazing colour range, last all day long and are a great price. The blush up in heat wave is £3.50 and the silky touch blushes are £2.50. As the blushes from Essence are great I really want to try their sooo blush as they are a cream to powder formula.
The next product I would recommend from Essence are their Nail polishes specially the colour and go range as they offer a great range of colours and last for ages. Essence offer a wide range of nail polishes ranging in effects gel, glitter, latex matt, glitter, liquid foil and camouflage, I would recommend going in to a shop that sells Essence or looking at their website online to look at the range of polish they offer.
The I stage eye shadow base is the next product I would recommend from Essence as it helps to keep your eye shadow, in place all day long with out creasing or making the colour fade. A little goes a long way with this product so it will last a long time for only £2.50.
The last product I recommend from Essence are their mascaras, they seem to have an endless range of mascaras, from primers, volume, definition, coloured mascara and no clumping mascara. The mascaras ranges in price from £1 to £3.50.
Tweet me telling what your favourite products from Essence are and what products you would love to try, @laurenwhiting13.

Spring Trend

Forget subtle this spring when it comes to eyeliner the bolder the better according to the makeup industry. I decided not to go too heavy with the liner but decided to create a more noticeable wing.
When creating the eyeliner I would recommend to take into consideration of your eye shape, as this will enhance the shape of your eyes more. To create this eyeliner look I used Smashbox Jet Set waterproof eyeliner in Deep Ivy, I would recommend to use a gel eyeliner as you can easily manipulate it to get the look you want, they also last all day long. To apply the eyeliner I used a Mac 263, as it is a small angled brush it will give you more control, and allow you to create a thick or thin line.

The Youtubers Reign

Many Youtubers at the moment have been publishing their own books, and the ones I have been most interested in have of course been by the beauty guru's.

The book I first got from a Youtuber was Girl Online by Zoe Sugg, I haven't started reading it yet as I have still been hooked on Breaking Dawn, as I do love Zoe's videos I hope to like her book. You can get this book for £5 from Amazon.

The next book I got was Michelle Phan, Make Up your life guide to beauty style and success online and off. This is by far one of my favourite books by the youtubers as from Michelle you find about how here love for makeup started and how her YouTube channel started to grow. In the book she shares her tips on makeup, hair, nails, clothes, digital help, and also many other tips and tricks to help us all. From reading this book Michelle Phan is firmly one of my favourite Beauty Guru's. This book is £13 from Amazon.
My next book is from a Youtuber I have loved for ages Love Tanya by Tanya Burr. This book is great as Tanya shares all of her tips and tricks about makeup, skincare, clothes, hair and how to start a YouTube channel. Along with the tips and tricks she also shares her life before YouTube, her anxiety and love. In this book I love the pictures and also how the reader can write down notes after each section of the book. £6.50 from Amazon.
My most recent book is The Glam Guide by FleurDeForce, another one of my firm favourite YouTubers and Beauty Guru's. In the book I love the range of information from beauty to relationships, skincare to body image and travel to clothing. In this book I also love how the pictures are drawn and not photographs, I also personally love the rose gold writing on the front cover of the book. This book is £7.50 from Amazon.

Everyday Makeup

I have recently been loving Mac Face and Body Foundation, you can control what type of coverage you would like from, super sheer coverage that looks like you don't have any foundation on or build it up to medium coverage bordering on full coverage when you apply layers. I then use Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair 1, when I use this with Face and Body I like to highlight under my eyes, forehead, nose and chin. I then use of course Mac Studio Fix powder to set it all in place, this will also give me coverage where the foundation didn't give it to me, it helps to create a flawless face and lasts all day. Next I move on to brows I have recently been using NYX eyebrow cake powder as it gives my eyebrows a more natural look.

On my eyes I first start off using Smashbox limitless 15 hour wear cream shadow in the shade gemstone, to create a perfect base and to also allow the eye shadows something to stick to. I then use my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, I start off with Trick, the perfect rose gold shade, then add a tiny bit of blackheart to the crease to give some definition before I blend away. I then curl my eyelashes using my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, for my eyelashes I have been using a combination of W7 Absolute Lashes and Collection Lengthening Mascara, to create length and volume. Lastly I have been loving Mac Peachykeen blush, the perfect peach shade with a hint of shimmer.

January Favourites

As the first month of 2015 has now passed, this monthly favourites has got a bit of beauty and non beauty.

My first beauty favourite of the month has been The Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, a palette that when it first came out I wasn't too sure about. But now I have tried it I absolutely LOVE it !!! What I love most about this palette is that you can create so many looks and they don't all have to be BAM in your face pink. My favourite shades from this palette Trick, Dust and Blackheart. Along with the Naked 2 the packing is also beautiful.
My next favourite is Modelsprefer powder and bronze brush, a brush that I picked up in Australia and I have been using it non stop. I now use this brush to apply my face powder and also Soap & Glory Solar Powder around the perimeter of my face, I love this brush for bronzer as it does not give you a precise application, where as a contour brush would.
My last beauty favourite for the month is the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in the shade Nudist. I'm not a big fan of Soap & Glory lip-glosses as I find they are way too sticky for my liking, so I was hesitant to try this but I absolutely love it I don't find it sticky at all and find it also has a great colour pay off.
My first non beauty favourite of the month of January has definitely been the Twilight saga books, I have read through these books so fast and have enjoyed every minute of them. I definitely prefer the books to the films as she talks about things that don't happen in the films. When ever I have finished one of these books I would have to go and get the next one straight away. Definitely a favourite of the month.
My last non beauty favourite of the month has been a bag, more specifically the DKNY Collegiate Logo Backpack. I got this backpack with my Christmas money and have loved it ever since I got it. I decided not to use it for college but it is not too big or too small for everyday use.
